EMIL GUNTHER, M. D., City Physician of Sheboygan, is a native of this place, born February 22, 1868.  He is a son of Theodore and Bertha (Shaefer) Gunther.  (See sketch of parents in biography of Dr. William H. Gunther.)

    The subject of this sketch was educated in the public schools of Sheboygan, and for a time was associated with the Sheboygan Zeitung, as business manager and local editor.

    In 1884, he entered upon the study of medicine under the direction of his elder brother, Dr. William H. Gunther, and in February, 1889, became a student of Rush Medical College, of Chicago, from which he was graduated in March, 1892.  On his return from college, he became associated with his brother in practice.  On the 1st of May, 1893, he was appointed City Physician.  He also practices at the St. Nicholas Hospital of this city.

    Dr. Gunther is a member of the Sheboygan County Medical Society, and gives promise of proving an able and successful practitioner.
