HENRY
J. BAMFORD, of the H.J. Bamford Co., wholesale dealers in cheese, butter and dairy supplies, of Plymouth, has been engaged in the cheese business, either as manufacturer or dealer, since 1876.
The existing partnership with Louis Greise was formed in 1890.
The subject of this sketch was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and is a son of Joseph and Anna Maria (Fleming) Bamford, of whom see record on another page.
Mr. Bamford of this sketch came to Sheboygan County in 1855, and settled on a farm in the town of Plymouth.
He received a common-school education in the country schools and the Plymouth High School.
After completing his education, he engaged in teaching school, teaching in all some nine terms.
In 1875 he began learning cheese-making, and in the following year, in company with another, rented a cheese factory.
He subsequently operated three factories in the town of Plymouth. Since 1890 he has given up manufacturing, and has been engaged exclusively in dealing in cheese, butter and dairy supplies.
On the 9th of June, 1882, Mr. Bamford was united in marriage at Plymouth to Miss Lillie C. Hubbard.
Mrs. Bamford was born in Illinois and is the daughter of the Rev. G. B. Hubbard.
Mr. and Mrs. Bamford are members of the Congregational Church.
In politics, Mr. Bamford is a Republican; socially, he is a member of Hiawatha Lodge No. 520,
R. A., of Plymouth. He has been quite successful in business, and is recognized as one of the most expert and extensive cheese-dealers in the county, as well as an upright and responsible business man.
