WILLIAM HULL, a pioneer of 1849, lives on section 23, Greenbush Township.  He was born near Coburg, Canada West, June 22, 1812, being a son of Daniel and Hannah (Zoofelt) Hull.  His father was a native of Massachusetts, and his mother of Canada.  The former died, in the War of 1812.

    William Hull was married December 22, 1837, to Amanda Hinman, whose death occurred March 8, 1862.  Their children are as follows:  Cornelius; Harriet, wife of George Torney, of Cascade; Melitta, who became the wife of Harvey Sanburn, of Wausau, Minn.; Moses; Aaron who wedded Elizabeth Smith, and lives at Antigo, Wis.; Almira; Daniel, who was a soldier of the Eighth Wisconsin Regiment, and died on the battlefield at Nashville, Tenn., in 1864; and Reuben, who first married Melissa Gorman, and after her death wedded Amy Albright.  His home is also at Antigo.

    In 1849 Mr. Hull emigrated to this county, arriving on the 22d of June.  He has, therefore, been a resident of the county for over forty-four years.  he was again married, in Greenbush, in 1867, to Mrs. Mary Crandall, widow of Mathias Crandall, and a daughter of Jeremiah Crandall.  Unto Mr. and Mrs. Hull was born one child, Carrie, who is the wife of Sanford G. Couch, of Omaha, Neb.  Mrs. Hull is a native of Northumberland County, Canada.

    Mr. Hull is a member of the Baptist Church, and his wife of the Methodist Episcopal Church.  Politically, he is a Republican, and to support the principles of that party sent four of his boys to serve in the War of the Rebellion:  Cornelius, who died soon after the war; Moses who died from the effects of his army life; Daniel, who was killed; and Aaron, who is still living.
