FRED ROSENTHAL is a member of the Board of Public Works of the city of Sheboygan, to which body he was elected in May of 1893.  He is a native of the Evergreen City, and a son of Fred Rosenthal, Sr.  The latter was born in Germany, April 8, 1829, and emigrated to America in 1853, and to Sheboygan the same year.  He was united in marriage in that place, September 3, 1854, to Ernestine Kuck, who was also a native of Germany.  He continued to reside here until his death, which occurred August 9, 1892.  The wife and mother died November 8, 1890.

    The subject of this record was one of a family of ten children.  four of the family, including the parents, died within two years of one another.  Three sons and five daughters are living.  Fred Rosenthal, whose name heads this sketch, was born in this city, October 28, 1859.  With the exception of a period of six years, Sheboygan has always been his home.  During these six years he resided in Red Lake Falls, Minn., where he was engaged in the saloon and hotel business.  He returned to Sheboygan in 1889, where he went into the saloon business May 17 of the same year.

    Mr. Rosenthal was married May 24, 1883, to Miss Anna Werthmann, a daughter of Frederick Werthmann, of the town of Mosel, Sheboygan County.  They have a family consisting of two sons, Freddie and Norman, and two daughters, Hattie and Melitta.

    Our subject is a Democrat Politically.  Socially, he is a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Sheboygan Gegenseitiger Arbeiter Unterstuetzungs Vereign.  On the 1st of May, 1892, Mr. Rosenthal took possession of his father's place and was also appointed administrator of the estate by his father's last will.
